Directed by little known tv director Drew Hancock, this is his first time directing a movie and just might be his big break out of mediocrity.
Heart Eyes (February 7, 2025)

A Valentine's Day slasher to watch with your sweet heart.
The trailer for this film has certainly been successful in building excitement for what looks like a classic teen slasher comedically embracing tropes.
We love the unique mask of the villain, but how does he see anything?
Features Jordana Brewster, Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding, and others.
Directed by Josh Ruben, well known for his many acting roles, we hope he knocks it out the park this time directing, 'Werewolves Within' (2021) was not done baking.

Another new tech story, we are honestly impressed at the ingenuity, just when you think they couldn't possibly design another horror movie around tech, they always do.
The film is a remake of the Argentine original '4x4' (2019), which already had a Brazillian remake, 'A Jaula' (2022).
The trailer for this film has caused quite a stir, very well done.

filled with rising Gen Z stars, Features Finn Wolfhard from 'It' (2017), Fred Hechinger from 'Gladiator II' (2024), Abby Quinn, and others.
Believe it or not, this film is directed by 22 year old Finn Wolfhard who is also the star, this kid must have some serious cash from his many seasons starring in the tv series 'Stranger Things' (2016-2025), we can't wait to see how this film pans out for him, you got balls kid.
Drop (April 11, 2025)

This horror film promises to titillate us with yet another fresh way of tormenting a victim using technology.
So many tech based horror films have come out in recent years that we are considering giving it a genre category.

The trailer for this movie isn't great, but we still have hope this will be a great thrill ride.

It Feeds (April 18, 2025)

This relatively unknown film has burst onto the scene, capturing horror fans attention with its excellent trailer and early positive reviews.

This is not director Chad Archibald's first film, but we expect this to be his seminal horror flick and we are very exciting to see what his style will be.
Sinners (April 18, 2025)

This film tells black stories and history, we love that more and more black stories are being told, and more black folks are getting to tell stories in film, particularly horror.
Although the story does involve vampires and gruesome deaths, this is primarily a drama that blends elements of horror, musicals, and history.
The film is heavy on symbolism and has incredible production design, and even some choreography.

This is the 6th film, 'Final Destination 5' (2011) was the conclusion 15 years ago.
The franchise began with 'Final Destination' (2000), and we recommend binge watching every film before watching this new sequel.

Features Sally hawkins but an otherwise largely unknown cast.
The Ritual (June 6, 2025)

This looks like it is the year's only exorcism film and it certainly has some big expectations based on the casting.

The movie is based on the true story of the exorcism of Emma Schmidt, a Midwestern woman allegedly possessed in the 1920s.

Features Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, the voice of Jenna Davis, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, Jen Van Epps, Jemaine Clement, and others.
Directed by prolific horror writer and producer Akela Cooper, we believe this will be her directorial debut.
Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story (July 11, 2025)

I Know What You Did Last Summer (July 18, 2025)

Little is known about this sequel to the original film of the same name as the original, 'I Know What You did Last Summer' ( 1997). We anticipate this sequel to be more of a "requel", two returning legacy characters from the original are expected to pass the torch of this franchise to a new generation.
We are sure this film will be controversial for older fans of the franchise.
Features Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Junior, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Madelyn Cline, and others.

The Home (July 25, 2025)

"Max, a troubled man, starts working at a retirement home and realizes its residents and caretakers harbour sinister secrets"
Excellent trailer that wets our beaks but doesn't give away too much, looks like a very thrilling ride.
We love the retirement home setting, there has been horror movies involving the elderly in different ways, but nothing that turns a retirement home into a scary place.
Directed by James DeMonaco, famous for writing and directing 'The Purge' franchise.
Features Pete Davidson, John glover, and others.
Together (August 1, 2025)

This film from Neon has flown pretty under the radar, surprising horror fans with its existence in a beautiful, mysterious, and short teaser trailer (there is only a place holder poster).
We can't wait to learn more about what this psychological sci-fi flick is going to be about, promising some body morphing horror, colour us intrigued.
A superstar duo is featured in this film, Alison Brie, Dave Franco, and others.
We believe this will be director Michael Shanks film debut, having previously directed some tv series episodes, we are certainly excited to see what this rookie's style will be after watching the trailer.

The Conjuring: Last Rites (September 5, 2025)

The 4th and final instalment in 'The Conjuring' (2013) franchise, wrapping up the story of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The film is rumoured to be based on the true haunting of the Smurl family, which occurred in 1986.
To be honest, we are doubtful that this will be the last film in this wildly successful franchise, fans had hope that Warren's vault of haunted objects would be tapped as material for new films and we expect spin-offs will continue..
Features Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, and others.
Directed by Michael Chaves, most famous for 'The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It' (2021) and 'The Nun II' (2023).
HIM (September 19, 2025)

The story follows a promising young football player, who is invited to train at the isolated compound of legendary quarterback.
explores themes of idolatry, obsession, and the dark side of sports culture.
It features Marlon Wayans, Julia Fox, comedian Jim Jeffries, and others.
We expected this to be a comedy based on the wording of the Motion Picture Rating and the cast, but it is a psychological drama.
Interestingly, horror director legend Jordan Peele is producing.
This will be this director rookie's 2nd film, Justin Tipping, and we are very excited to see his first horror attempt.
The Strangers: Chapter 2 (September 26, 2025)

The story picks up four days after the events of 'The Strangers: Chapter 1' (2024), with Maya trying to escape the relentless pursuit of the Strangers.

Black Phone 2 (October 17, 2025)

A sequel to the Paranormal and Crime horror film 'The Black Phone' (2021).
We are surprised there is a sequel based on how the first film ended, but it was definitely successful enough for Hollywood to resurrect this storyline.
Is there a legendary franchise in the making here?
It's possible, definitely a great villain here and we hope they give them some more characterization.
Features Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, Demián Bichir, Miguel Mora, Arianna Rivas, and others.
Directed by Scott Derrickson, known for 'Sinister' (2012) and 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose' (2005).
Frankenstein (November, 2025)

We know now that this remake of the masterpiece 'Frankenstein' (1932) will be released in November, but Netflix has not given us a day, bit disappointing it's coming after Halloween.

Should he survive, he’ll win a cash prize that will help save his sick child and lift his family out of a horrid living situation."
This film certainly feels inspired by Richard Connell's famous short story, 'The Most Dangerous Game' (1924), 'The Hunger Games' (2012), and the recent film 'The Hunt' (2020).
The absolutely star studded cast includes Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Colman Domingo, and others.

The film will introduce new lore, exploring Predator society and their brutal survival rituals.
We know two cast members so far, it will feature
Elle Fanning, Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, and others.
director of the previous sequel, Dan Trachtenberg, helms this production as well, he is also known for '10 Cloverfield Lane' (2016).
Return To Silent Hill (November 21, 2025)

Director of the original 'Silent Hill' (2006), Christophe Gans, has returned to bring us what we think will be a requel.
This film is extremely delayed, it was supposed to hit theatres on Christmas Day 2024.
Like the sequel before it, the film is supposed to center on the 2nd silent Hill video game, the story however, is not related to the previous films, it just takes place in the same world.
We really hope they give the fans everything they were left wanting.
No poster or trailer yet.
Features Jeremy Irvine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Robert strange, and others.
Interestingly, Evie Templeton will reprise her role from the video game in the film.

Directed by industry veteran Paul Feig, known for 'A Simple Favor' (2018) and 'The School For Good And Evil' (2022).
Return Of The Living Dead (December 25, 2025)

So this is a bit of a confusing franchise...
This is not a remake of 'Return Of The Living Dead' (1985), it is a sequel to it.
This sequel takes place 18 months after the original and ignores the existence of the other sequels.
The title choice leads us to believe it will be a "requel", relaunching the franchise.
The story begins with a new "Trioxin" leak that triggers a zombie outbreak in a small Pennsylvania town during a Christmas blizzard.
Features Alexander Ward, famous for playing all kinds of supernatural creatures.
Directed by the unknown Steve Wolsh, he has yet to have any success in the film industry, we hope he strikes gold.
DreamQuil (No Date Yet, 2025)

Thread: An Insidious Tale (August 21, 2026)
This film was expected to be released late in 2025 but has been pushed to summer 2026.
All we know is that it will be about a couple using a spell book to time travel.
This incredible franchise had 5 films in it, 'Insidious: The Red Door' (2023) was supposed to be the last film, the storyline was neatly tied up with a bow... but alas... we are getting this film.
Features Mandy Moore, Kumail Nanjiani, and others (presumably).
