Clown In A Cornfield
2025
Eli Craig
Clowns, Scary, Slasher, Comedy, Must-See, Thriller
This clown slasher is a thrilling fun adventure, a must-see film sure to become a modern classic.
This film is based off the first book in a trilogy by Adam Cesare, so we are very likely to get sequels and a new franchise starring the new villain "Frendo" the clown.
The film takes place in an American Midwest town, where unsurprisingly, life revolves around corn.
A great number of films are paid homage: we thought of scenes from 'Friday The 13th' (1980), 'Dark Night Of The Scarecrow' (1981), 'Children Of The Corn' (1984), 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' (1998), 'Jeepers Creepers 2' (2003), among many others.
The practical effects are excellent, although we would say this film is low on gore, and it has an exciting score that keeps the pace fast and the tension high, a mix of soundtrack and classic horror sound effects.
This is a comedy but horror rookies will find it quite scary, lots of brutal kills, horror veterans will be delighted by the sheer number of tropes incorporated, director Eli Craig is clearly a fan of the genre, you could make a drinking game out of spotting the tropes.
The film gives us some deep commentary on generational conflicts, great fun twists (predictable but fun), and maybe even some laughs.
The acting is excellent, characterization is good, and we even get some character development which is rare in a horror film.
We recommend watching with some friends under the influence, and maybe even with your parents.
Features Kevin Durand, Katie Douglas, Aaron Abrams, Carson MacCormac, Will Sasso, Cassandra Potenza, Verity Marks, Alexandre Martin Deakin, Ayo Solanke, Vincent Muller, and others.
Directed by Eli Craig, most famous for directing 'Tucker and Dale vs Evil' (2010) and 'Zombieland' (2013).
