Flying Lotus

Aliens, Background, Scary, Mystery

**Safety Warning** constant flashing lights throughout entirety of film.
This is rapper turned director, Flying Lotus's debut film, and we have to say it is pretty impressive for a newcomer feature film.
The film struggles with keeping the audience attention, dragging from the beginning until the climax when things finally start to get exciting.
The story, like most alien films, is very reminiscent of 'Alien' (1979) or 'The Thing' (1982), rather formulaic and repetitive in it's plot.
The CGI budget is hit or miss, the alien scenes look pretty good, but others could have used some more pixels.
The set looks great in most aspects, but is somewhat ruined by coloured lights that seem to be added for no utilitarian reason other than to light the characters faces in quite literally every different colour of the spectrum.
Would scientists choose to light their space station like this? Definitely not.
The director really struggles to create an atmosphere and fear, and to convey what the main character is going through.
Overall, we think this film is worth watching, a great background film to put on while you play board games, and we are excited to see what Flying Lotus will create next.
Features Eiza Gonález, Aaron Paul, and others.
