Pablo Absento

Monsters, Scary, Found Footage, Paranormal

This found footage mystery gives us some Japanese folk lore, some kind of mythical spirit monster.
Directed by Pablo Absento, this is her directorial debut, building on a collection of horror shorts also centered on Japanese folk lore.
This film doesn't have great reviews, but we definitely think it is worth watching, particularly for the style which was very enthralling and well done, the entire story is told through the screen of a laptop, much like 'Host' (2020) but a little more varied.
You will have to really pay attention because about half the dialogue is in text and you will need to read fast to keep up with the plot.
We do wish the film had been a little scarier and perhaps had a better ending.
If you are a rookie horror fan, this is good entry into the found footage genre, not super scary.
Features Ben McKenzie, Bojana Novakovic, and others.
