Beauty And The Beast
2017
Bill Condon
Family-Friendly, Musical, Mystery, Remake, Scary
This live-action remake of the 1991 animated original is a beautiful adaptation.
The film is a feast for the eyes, with lavish sets and costumes, and the CGI used to create the Beast and the enchanted objects is incredible.
The soundtrack is beautiful with some new songs added in, and the cast all give great performances.
The film caused quite a global controversy due to Le Fou being depicted as more clearly gay in this remake, and was restricted and banned in several primitive countries.
This remake is a delightful and enchanting film that pays homage to its animated predecessor while offering a visually rich and emotionally resonant experience, it’s a must-see for fans of the original and those who enjoy dark fairy tales.
Fun facts: Belle’s yellow ball gown took over 12,000 hours to create, 8,700 candles were used during the filming, and 20,000 icicles were made for the enchanted forest scene.
Although this is a family-friendly film, some scenes are quite scary, so parents should use their discretion.
Features Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Audra McDonald, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and others.
