The Uninvited

2009

Charles Guard, Thomas Guard

Mystery, Psychological, Scary, Thriller

This psychological thriller is a fun mystery to unravel and it will definitely keep you guessing, and struggling to see what is real, we appreciate the twists that are hopefully unpredictable.
The film begins with a nice cold open dream sequence that becomes a recurrence throughout the film which weaves it's story through, dreams, memories and maybe even hallucinations?
This film is rated PG13 but we would definitely say it is pretty scary and we now have a fear of bells jingling and garbage bags for that matter.
The score is good and really keeps the tension and drama high throughout the film, although we wish it was a little louder to really heighten the fear.
We can't help but think that other mysteries like 'Dream House' (2011) and 'Visions' (2015) were inspired by this film, give those a watch if you enjoyed this one.
Features Emily Browning, Arielle Kebbel, Elizabeth Banks, Jesse Moss, David Strathairn, and others.
Trigger warnings: drowning, death in fire, terminally ill family member, suicide attempt, mental asylum.
