Insidious

2010

James Wan

Paranormal, Original, Must-See, Mystery, Very Scary

This is a really good story, a must-see modern masterpiece from the now legendary James Wan, and a unique addition to the Paranormal genre; reminiscent of the 'The Amityville Horror', 'Paranormal Activity', and the tv series 'Stranger Things'.
The film is wonderfully sinister right from the beginning with that iconic theme music and title card, the pacing is perfect, keeping it tense and suspenseful as the story and twists unfold.
We have zero complaints, everything is excellent; the score, the makeup and costumes, the set, special effects, and the acting.
Fair warning: you may find this film absolutely terrifying and be unable to sleep after watching, we struggled to stop hearing a certain song and seeing the face to go with it haha.
If you do enjoy Paranormal films, we suggest watching only 1 a day or even just 1 a week from the Insidious franchise, they are that scary.
Patrick Wilson becomes somewhat typecast from this film, appearing in this franchise and The Conjuring Universe franchise for the rest of the decade and into the 2020's.
There are 2 equally as good sequels and 2 prequels that we suggest you watch in order of release.
Features Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins, Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson, Barabara Hershey, Joseph Bishara, and others.
*Trigger warning: sick child, forced confinement
