The Blair Witch Project
1999
Eduardo Sanchez, Daniel Myrick
Found Footage, Black & White, Witchcraft, Scary
This wasn’t the first Found Footage film, but it really birthed genre, made on a shoe string budget with extremely limited filming and editing capabilities.
The film is very slow to start, but then you are in the most dizzying and irritating fear factory you will ever watch; seriously, you may want to take an Advil so you don’t get a headache.
When the film was released, it went viral (impressive because social media didn’t exist), the actors faces were put on Missing Persons Posters and handed out at screenings, backed up with a website promoting the film as real.
Is it a good film? No, but its worth watching because it was so groundbreaking.
Features an unnoteworthy cast.
