In The Mouth Of Madness
1994
John Carpenter
Avant-Garde, Mystery, Psychological, Must-See, Monsters, Scary
Another film from the legendary horror director, Carpenter, but we bet you haven't heard of this creepy and disturbing must-see masterpiece.
This is certainly a unique mindf*ck adventure that will titillate your senses and hopefully not leave you too confused, we recommend putting your phone away so you aren't distracted during this hard to follow plot.
The bizarre, deep, and meta story centers around a missing author and his latest book, loosely based on HP Lovecraft's book 'At The Mountains Of Madness' (1936), we descend into chaos and it becomes hard to know what reality is.
The film has incredible special effects and makeup, an excellent score, and a gorgeous visual aesthetic.
We can't say much more without spoiling the film, if you are confused after watching, we recommend Ryan Hollinger's explainer video on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7zAhobLJK8
Features Sam Neill, Julie Carmen, Jürgen Prochnow, David Warner, Charlton Heston, John Glover, Bernie Casey, Peter Jason, Frances Bay, Wilhelm von Homburg, and others.
