Diary Of The Dead
2007
George A. Romero
Zombies, Sequel, Not Scary, Found Footage
No relation to the 1976 film of the same name.
We wouldn't say this a great film but it is worth watching if you love Zombie survival stories.
Famed director, Romero, tried his hand at this newly created genre "found footage" and ultimately comes up short.
'The Blair Witch Project' came out 8 years before this and we can't help but feel like he is making fun of it and the genre.
The characters are all super awful and annoying, which does make their inevitable deaths somewhat satisfying, and there is a few good bloody deaths.
The filming is actually quite steady, you won't get motion sickness from this found footage film.
We only wish the story was better and it had more bloody and scary deaths.
There is another sequel, 'Survival of the Dead' (2009) which is a bit more successful and actually ties into this film, something Romero has never done before in this franchise.
Features Michelle Morgan, Joshua Close, Shawn Roberts, Schroeder Todd, Amy Lalonde, Laura de Carteret, Joe Dinicol, Philip Riccio, Tatiana Maslany, Chris Violette, and others.
