Mystery, Scary, Witchcraft, Gore, Horror, Must-See, Psychological
This film was a smash hit, we think it is a must-see modern masterpiece.
"When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance."
The score really complements the setting, creating an eerie atmosphere in this small rust-belt US city.
A few bloody kills, practical effects are done well, and you may have to look away at one particularly gory death.
This film has stunts and choreography, they did an excellent job with the cast of kids, really haunting.
The acting is incredible, particularly from Garner, Madigan, Wong, and Ehrenreich.
We do wish the film had been scarier, we were certainly led to believe by the trailer that it would be, but there are still some great scares, and the unsettling tension and suspense is expertly crafted.
There are some plot holes, depending on how much you think about the story, but we would recommend just getting into it and not dissecting it too much, it is horror after all.
Directed by Zach Cregger, known for his disturbing psychological thriller Barbarian (2022), he has cemented himself as a rising star.
We get an excellent villain, incredible characterization, so memorable; a prequel centering around this villain is already in talks and we are sure they will be the number Halloween costume of 2025.
Features Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Austin Abrams, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Cary Christopher, June Diane Raphael, Amy Madigan, and others.
