This is an unoriginal story, very similar to 'The Manor' (2021), so whether or not you have seen that film will colour your perception of this one.
The film is almost entirely based around Comedian Pete Davidson, very little screen time for anyone else, Pete is very much playing a version of himself, which we think makes sense because he is not really an actor; Pete wears lots of swag from his hometown, Staten Island.
The film is very creepy, aided by a soundtrack of old gramophone music that won't make sense until the mystery is revealed; there are also several great jump scares.
We get to see a little bit of jacked and naked Pete, but wish there had been more, and they could have worked in some comedy and more scary parts with it.
Pretty good twist, downright evil.
There is a lot going on in the film, it's trying too hard, we wish there had been more highs and lows, better pacing, but overall it is a fun albeit slightly frustrating watch.
This is one where you may want to skip watching the trailer because it gives away too much and the film will be predictable.
If you have ommetaphobia (fear of things touching your eyeballs), or trypanophobia (fear of needles),
this film is going to be especially horrifying (already spoiled in the poster).
Features comedian Pete Davidson and others.
*Trigger warnings: suicide, elder abuse, foster care.
