Will any of these charming Irish folk survive??
This nautical monster flick is a fun story that doesn't quite realize its full potential but is still worth watching, a little bit Lovecraftian.
Fair warning, the film has a very slow start not aided by how quiet it is without a score until about midway, doesn't help create a mood, but the claustrophobic ship quarters certainly does.
The film plot does closely mirror 'Alien' (1979) and 'The Thing' (1982), which makes it feel a bit predictable.
We wish the film had been scarier, but this a great monster flick for horror rookies, not too much gore either.
Good special effects and CGI, great acting and Irish accents, Corfield really delivers in the lead.
We really appreciate that this story unfolds over just 1.5 hours and wish more directors could be this concise, although it does limit character development.
We would not recommend watching the trailer, it gives away the entire movie.
Features Hermione Corfield, Dag Malmberg, Jack hickey, Olwen Fouéré, Dougray Scott, Connie Nielsen, Ardalan Esmaili and Elie Bouakaze.
