Ouija: Origin Of Evil
2016
Mike Flanagan
Haunted House , Mystery, Paranormal, Prequel, Scary, Horror, TV-14
"In 1967 Los Angeles, a widowed mother's daughter tries to communicate with her late father through a Ouija board, but unleashes a demon instead."
This film is the prequel to 'Ouija' (2014) and we think it is even better than the original.
Set in the 60's, the old Victorian house creates a great atmosphere, especially the basement.
The highlight of the film is the acting, the entire cast gives great performances, with the little creepy girl being particularly memorable.
This film is rated TV-14, but it is quite scary, with jump scares and a slow burn pace that will have you on watching through your fingers.
The film relies heavily on CGI, we wish they had worked in more practical effects or had amuch larger budget for the digital effects, but it certainly doesn't ruin the fun.
Directed by the legendary Mike Flanagan, known for 'Doctor Sleep' (2019), 'Oculus' (2013), and most notably for his collection of horror tv mini series that includes 'The Haunting Of Hill House' (2018).
Features Annalise Basso, Elizabeth Reaser, Lulu Wilson, Henry Thomas, and others.
*Trigger warning: dealing with loss, con-artist
