Friday The 13th Part 3

1982

Steve Miner

Scary, Slasher, Sequel, Campy

This sequel has a slightly different story and plot than the previous films although it is still very much a formulaic Slasher flick.
This film was one of the first to have 3D effects which looked very cool at the time, weapons shooting out of the screen towards your head, not so cool outside the theatre for you watching today.
(spoiler) Jason's iconic mask debuts in this sequel, a look that would cement him as a legendary horror villain.
So many 80's and 90's films feature very extreme punk anarchist type characters, it kind of feels like they put them into stories to discourage teens from joining that culture.
None of the films in this franchise were intended to be comedies, they were supposed to be very scary, but to horror veterans they certainly can be considered comedy.
The score is extremely repetitive, but so are these films, so wonderfully stupid.
Overall the film is pretty decent; suspenseful, scary, gory kills, all the hits you would expect.
We do recommend watching the next sequel 'Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter' (1984).
Features a largely unknown cast.
