John Logan
Mystery, Scary, Slasher, Psychological, Thriller
A different kind of camp slasher.
While this is a slasher with lots of brutal kills, it is also a queer resistance and survival story with social commentary.
We get a lot of bloody and violent deaths in this large cast, low on gore, and some deaths are off-screen.
The psychological tension is excellent, and the methodical murders and fear are well crafted.
The film could have used a better score, been scarier, and given some more character depth.
An accomplished writer, this was John Logan's directorial debut, it's a little half baked but overall a great first film and we hope they stay in the horror genre.
We would love to see more queer horror films, the majority are of very poor quality, casting, and budget; so this was great to see that it is possible to have queer characters without them being hidden behind the subtext of something supernatural.
Bonus, we get quite a bit of nudity from rising star Cooper Koch, most famous for the tv series 'Monsters' (2024).
Features Kevin Bacon, Theo Germaine, Anna Chlumsky, Carrie Preston, Austin Crute, Quei Tann, Anna Lore, Monique Kim, Cooper Koch, and others.
