This series is a prequel to 'The Conjuring' series, and we recommend you watch 'The Conjuring' films first.
We love the setting change, Romania is such a storied place for horror films, and the sets and atmosphere are incredible, complimented by an excellent score.
We love that they have taken something so pure and holy, a nun and a nunnery, and made it terrifying.
The film is not perfect, but we think it is a must-see and has been a victim of review bombing from viewers that don't like to like popular movies.
These films are not for the faint of heart, this is an absolutely heart pounding thrill ride with lots of jump scares; many viewers report not being able to sleep after these films and having certain images stuck in their minds for days.
Spoiler: the demon in this film is based off of a demon that the real life Lorraine Warren claims haunted her in her home, which was in 'The Conjuring 2'.
