Slender Man

2018

Sylvain White

Paranormal, Scary

Who goes into the woods at night???
This very poorly rated film actually is pretty good.
The Slender Man was a wildly popular and viral computer game that came out in 2013, it thrilled and horrified young adults (and too curious children) at the time, many people reported having trouble sleeping for weeks from just watching someone else play the game and/or being scared to go outside.
We believe this film is a victim of review bombing, mostly from upset fans that wanted it to be exactly like the video game.
We enjoy the back story they made up for the Slenderman, much of which seems to come from the Creepy Pasta website where this mythical monster originates, first in an altered photograph.
There is lots of scary scenes including jump scares, they do a good job with characterization, and the CGI is good.
Interesting fact, an actual group of teen girls believed so badly that Slender Man was real, they stabbed one of their friends as an offering to him.
It's a bit hard to categorize this one, Slender Man is kind of like a "cenobite" in 'Hellraiser'.
Features Joey King, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso, Julia Goldani Telles, and others.
Trigger Warning: missing children, abducted children.
