This cult classic film is so outrageously 80's and it so bad that it is good.
The film takes place on Halloween and has excellent Halloween imagery and Americana.
All viewers are gonna find this hard to watch, Gen Xers probably have nostalgic memories of this film and a re-watch will leave you feeling ancient; younger viewers will definitely be scratching their heads throughout.
A few minutes into the film you will probably be thinking that this is one of the worst things you ever watched, but just keep watching, you are experiencing a moment in time, and it does get much better.
The actors playing high school kids look comically old, this was pre-sunscreen use and they didn't do a great job hiding wrinkles.
Like most 80's films, the acting is pretty cringe and not believable, especially the delivery of lines and timing, it can feel like a parody but it isn't.
The script feels very much like it was adapted from a 50's high school play, there are a lot of parallels between society in the 50's and 80's though.
As is typical of this decade, we get gratuitous female nudity and objectification, younger viewers will feel uncomfortable with a lot of the character actions and motivations, it was a different time kids.
The best part of the film is the makeup and practical effects, great stuff.
We recommend putting this on in the background while you play board games with friends.
Features Cathy Podewell, Amelia Kinkade, Linnea Quigley, Hal Havins, Alvin Alexis, Allison Barron, Billy Gallo, Lance Fenton, Philip Tanzini, and others.
