Dolls
1986
Stuart Gordon
Campy, Comedy, Dolls, Not Scary, Slasher
"afraid of the dark?" ... "No, afraid of what's in the dark."
This creepy Doll flick starts off with a classic cliche, car trouble in a storm near a spooky mansion.
We really love the scenes of the little girl day dreaming and her imagination coming to life, they really capture true childlike spirit.
The evil step mother is very fun and we wonder if it inspired the step mother in 'Parent Trap' (1998).
Directed by Stuart Gordon, most famous for 'Re-Animator' (1985) and 'From Beyond' (1986).
There are many bad films that seem to continue this story, but the film does not have an actual sequel or remake.
Some of the acting is possibly the worst you will ever see, so 80's with cringe delivery of lines and bad accents.
The score is really overpowering, its just so loud and relentless throughout, gets very annoying.
Keep watching, we promise it gets better and is worthwhile, particularly the dolls which are brought to life with special effects and stop motion.
Exceptionally silly ending.
Features Ian Patrick Williams, Carolyn Purdy-Gordon, Carrie Lorraine, Guy Rolfe, Hilary Mason, Bunty Bailey, Stephen Lee, and Cassie Stuart.
