Zombieland

2009

Ruben fleischer

Action, Comedy, Zombies, Original, Not Scary

This narrated guide to surviving the zombie apocalypse comes with a list of rules.
As was typical of the 2000's, this film tells the story of a not so typical nerdy teen.
Millennials probably have nostalgic memories of this film, but we think if you are re-watching it may not live up to how you felt about when you first saw it.
This was a bit of a mold breaking zombie flick at the time, focusing on the characters and less on the zombies, which unfortunately makes it not very scary at all, we get just a few good jump scares.
There isn't many blood thirsty zombie scenes, a few good kills but there could have been many more.
The humour is a little dated today, nothing that will make you actually laugh out loud, it's mostly just cute.
the rock and roll score doesn't quite strike the right tone, and we really wish the celebrity cameo had been omitted, really lags at that part of the film.
Overall, this is a fun and unusually adorable zombie flick.
If you loved this band of misfits, a sequel was released a decade later, 'Zombieland: Double Tap' (2019).
Features Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Amber Heard, Bill Murray, Emma Stone, and others.
